The year: 2094.
From out of space comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction! Man’s civilization is cast in ruin! One thousand years later, Earth is reborn. A strange new world rises from the old: a world of savagery, super science and sorcery.


This page will contain conversions, notes and tweaks for a fantasy post apocalyptic setting using Dungeons and Dragons 5e that I will develop and flesh out in a campaign that also uses Anomalous Subsurface Environment (ASE 1 and 2-3) by Patrick Wetmore which can be ordered from Lulu at the link. I think that much of 5e D&D works quite well for a Thundarr setting without much modification. The Barbarian class works perfectly for Thundarr and Ookla with the Rage and Unarmored Defense. The Spellcasters in 5e can cast an offensive cantrip like Firebolt at will each round also emulate the feel of the spellcasters like Ariel.

For starters, I will provide stat blocks for the main characters from the show at a low level. I used the standard array but felt that 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 were too low so I bumped them all +1 to 16, 15, 14, 13, 11, and 9. Hit points are progressed at the average + Constitution modifier. I felt that the Half-Orc could be reskinned as a Mok with only a name change.

Ariel, Human, 3rd level Sorceress (Wild Magic)

I will try to model Many of the “Wizards” from Thundarr the Barbarian as Warlocks or Sorcerers with use those class features to power some device or new ability.  If that does not work or if I feel there needs to be more variety, I may possibly create a school of Technomancy for Wizards.
